Day 53 – Best Ever

With three days of consecutive training behind me I’m badly in need of some rest.

Day: 53 of 77
Date: 3/07/2013
Workout Day: Rest
Weight (lb): 160.8 (11.4 lb loss)
Body Fat %: 13.6 (3.0% loss)
Health: Fine 10/10

Today was another full day in London, and in the absence of my well controlled home-made food, I took the opportunity to enjoy a bit of excess. Healthy excess.

I was with clients all day and had the immense pleasure of having lunch at my now favourite restaurant, Hawksmoor Guildhall. It’s essentially a steak restaurant with superb side dishes and starters. Today I went for the 900g Chateaubriand, grilled bone marrow, bone marrow gravy, asparagus, greens, fried eggs and beef belly ribs. All of it was incredible, and definitely the best steak I’ve ever had. The beef belly ribs were like pork belly but much less fatty, MASSIVE and very nice. Essentially huge blocks of soft spare rib meat. Simply amazing. Admittedly it is expensive. My main course alone was £147.50 (The steak itself was £117.00). But the food is brilliant, as is the service. If you do ever get the chance to go to a seriously nice steak restaurant in London, make it Hawksmoor and you won’t be disappointed.

From a nutritional standpoint, with the beef being grass fed I knew it would all be good for me, but I limited the bone marrow intake with it being so highly calorific. The steak was 2000 calories alone, despite it being a fillet. For the day I totalled 380g protein and 3000 calories. Although this is 1000 above my normal level, this excess should help break any low-calorie plateaus and send a jolt through the system.
