Day 52 – Sub-Optimal

Due to some badly planned scheduling I’m in the gym training for the third day in a row.

Day: 52 of 77
Date: 2/07/2013
Workout Day: 35
Weight (lb): 157.6 (14.2 lb loss)
Body Fat %: 12.7 (3.9% loss)
Health: Fine 10/10

Up until now I’ve been very strict about not weight training more than two days consecutively, but today required it so I had no choice. It’s not ideal but needs must. Today’s session was for chest and arms, which I ordinarily enjoy but my last encounter with this routine was not great with me finding it overly fiddly and busy. Having done some more planning, and purchased some resistance bands (to act in place of cable exercises) today’s session was better than the previous.

I still found the superset of 6 arm reps to be unsatisfying. Whether it’s doing the desired job or not, I just don’t feel that I’m really working them hard enough. Maybe I’m not used to relatively low reps for small muscle isolation work. That said my arms and chest did feel sore later in the evening, but on reflection it’s not a routine that I enjoy. It leaves me feeling frustrated that I know I could get more out of the workout somehow. Or maybe I just need to have more faith in the less “full-on” sessions.

By late evening I started to feel ultra-tired. The three days of training has really taken it out of me and I’m looking forward to two days without any exercise which are certainly needed. I will miss having my super-tasty PWO shake with the added dextrose but my morning bulletproof latte might remain a regular fixture.

Psychologically it’s nice to see me pass the 14 pound mark on the scales. I know weight doesn’t really mean anything but it just acts to remind you that you are making an impact, even if the visible progress isn’t always there.
