Day 38 – What Injury?

From barely being able to walk two days ago, I’ve had an excellent day without any pain or hindrance.

Day: 38 of 77
Date: 18/06/2013
Workout Day: 26
Weight (lb): 161.8 (10.0 lb loss)
Body Fat %: 14.0 (2.6% loss)
Health: Fine 10/10

My hip feels fine. Thank you to all the gods, followers and lucky charms that have wished me well and released me from the debilitating injury. That said, I know that if I don’t take it easy then it will come back. Injuries, especially those near the spine, are not to be messed with and one mistake can destroy any progress or plans for ambitious goals.

Today was a chest+arms session which includes a core superset of barbell roll-outs and hanging leg-raises. Both of these would put some stress on my lower back and so I took them off the menu. I thought that isometric exercises would be a better choice, and so performed a few planks. This definitely wasn’t up to the intensity of the programme but was better than doing nothing. It’s frustrating having to miss some exercises but a week of rest should fix any underlying issue which will be better in the long run.

Tomorrow is a back day for which I’ll have to be ultra-careful on exercise selection. I’ll probably keep the rows to lying barbell rows so as to not put any weight on my hips, as would be the case with dumbbells as one picks them up individually. Rack deadlifts are definitely off the menu, and I might bring in some wide grip pull-ups to work the lats instead.
