Day 26 – Hitting The Macros

Day 26 and I’m away from home but at least I’m back in the country.

Day: 26 of 77
Date: 6/06/2013
Workout Day: Rest
Weight (lb): Not measured
Body Fat %: Not measured
Health: Fine 10/10

I’m now back in the country, but with a full day away from home I’ve been once again hunting around for food. I’ve done zero exercise today, which is probably a good thing as my body does feel like it needs a rest.

With a relatively limited range of cafes to purchase food from, I’ve struggled to eat as I normally would when I’m in more control. Ordinarily I try to eat around 1700 calories, 250-300g protein and under 30g carbs, all coming from a varied source of meat and vegetables, with a few eggs and nuts thrown in. Today however was one of those days where it pretty much all came from chicken, salad and a few nuts. That will have hit all my main targets, but it is low on vegetables, fibre and fat and therefore isn’t very satiating. Nuts help a bit but I rarely have more than 15 almonds as I know it’ll stall my fat loss. You may know that I hate the IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) approach, and today was a good example of where macros are indeed important, but only in the wider and more important context of eating healthily. A day of chicken and salad is relatively nutritious and should keep me on track.

Recently I’ve decide to expose very little of what I’m eating. This sounds a little surprising but I’m very conscious of people thinking that what I do is in some way optimal or advisable. We all have a life with certain restrictions and I’m eating as best I can within those boundaries. You should be no different. Just remember that the further you diverge from the optimal path, the further your results will diverge as well.
