Day 18 – Warning Lights

Day 18 and I’m feeling pretty crappy. This is definitely my worst day so far.

Day: 18
Date: 29/05/2013
Workout Day: 15
Weight (lb): 165.6 (6.2 lb loss)
Body Fat %: 15.1 (1.5% loss)
Health: Very drained and sleepy

Unlike almost every other day so far in this process I’m feeling really crappy today. Tired, weak, sleepy and with a slight mental fog. It seems to come and go throughout the day. It started yesterday and my weigh-in stats show a slight rise in weight (which could be anything) and I’ve no idea what it could be. Too few calories, too little fat, too much protein, too much training, too few carbs or just too little sleep? At the moment I’m still putting it down to sleep as nothing has been changing and maybe my sleep just needs to get better to soak up the intensity of the whole process. I refuse to change any aspect of my diet or training till I have both a compelling and convincing event occur, which as yet has not happened.

Entering the gym today I felt rough. After the first set I felt weak and ready to give up. So I took a caffeine pill, BCAAs and 3 thermogenic tablets and carried on. After a few minutes I started to get into the groove and I was soon sailing along as normal. It’s hard to say what got me there, but an hour after my session was successfully completed I fell back to my previous state and was ultra tired again. It’s as if someone has drained the adrenalin out of me. And as someone that never drinks coffee, the notion of adrenal fatigue isn’t something I need to worry about. Maybe it’s a cortisol thing.

When you combine feeling like this and the scales playing silly buggers it did make me wondering if I’m starting to plateau. But then I looked in the mirror and realised this was the best I’ve looked throughout the plan! So it is working still. I plan to have a good night’s sleep tonight and trust Mr Homeostasis will get everything back on track for the morning and another day of training.
