Day 15 – Sunday Squat Day

Day 15 and the return of the dreaded leg day.

Day: 15
Date: 26/05/2013
Workout Day: 13
Weight (lb): 164.2 (7.6 lb loss)
Body Fat %: 14.7 (1.9% loss)
Health: Fine

With the first two weeks behind me it was time to continue my progress with an even tougher legs session. The weights went up across the board but I struggled with the same issue as last time, not my physical strength but my fitness in the more intensive squat sets. The 6 second eccentric squats are quite mentally challenging as they require a fair amount of focus, especially on the breathing. But they’re nothing compared to the sets of 20 squats with 3 second eccentrics. By the tenth squat I’m knackered! I tried adjusting my breathing patterns and this did help somewhat. But in fairness I did better than last time, and feel that my CV fitness is slowly improving. The session was tough but successful.

Another sunny day brought more barbequed meat and sunbathing, so I’m now stuffed full of protein and vitamin D. It’s a public holiday in the UK tomorrow which means no excuse not to take advantage of the extra time to occupy the gym and maybe partake in some more outdoor cardio.

P.s. My two week stats are looking good. Not great but still pleasing. 1.9% fat lost, 7.6lb weight lost. It’s worth restating that these measurements are from a highly inaccurate set of electronic scales, so the numbers should be taken with a pinch of salt. I’m more pleased with the compliments from my better half (wife) and the improvements I’m seeing in the mirror.
