Day 13 – Luck has nothing to do with it

Day 13 and I can honestly say that I’m enjoying all this.

Day: 13
Date: 24/05/2013
Workout Day: 12
Weight (lb): 165.6 (6.2 lb loss)
Body Fat %: 15.0 (1.6% loss)
Health: Fine

The morning weigh-in brought some pleasing numbers and I’m happy with the progress in the mirror. Despite another busy Friday I managed to fit in the required Shoulders/Back training session which went very well. I went up a weight in every exercise, and in one case accidentally put too big a weight on, but still managed to lift it, so I kept on going and was pleased with pushing myself a little bit further.

I’m still taking 3 x BCAAs after each superset which I can do easily, amounting to 36 per workout on average. It’s hard to know if they’re doing anything as I’ve always taken them when working out, and don’t plan to experiment without them. I’ll continue with them until I have a good reason not to.

With everything going well I’m starting to not feel the “pain” of feeling stuck in a restrictive programme. Meat+veg is what I eat and there is no concept of anything else. I train pretty much every day, and it all feels normal now. But as my friends and family keep reminding me, I am working pretty damn hard on all this which is generating the results. I do fear the dreaded plateaus and the expected diminishing returns, but I’m confident that with the right focus and commitment I can keep driving towards the results I want. I have no doubt that genetics, environment and even luck will predispose certain people to having that cover model body, and I’m also certain that given the right opportunity anyone else can achieve it. Whilst genetics are not my friend, I am gifted with the opportunity and now is my time to show that commitment is all I need to hit my goal.
