Day 68 – Carb Loading

Experimentation time! I’m carb loading today as a test before my final week.

Day: 68 of 77
Date: 18/07/2013
Workout Day: Rest
Weight (lb): unknown
Body Fat %: unknown
Health: Fine 10/10

I’ve finally stayed out of the gym today, worked hard on my computer and had a thoroughly unenjoyable day of eating. Next week, as per the book, I plan to clear my glycogen stores, then carb load, water deplete and look good for the photos. But in preparation for that I’ve decided to try it out this week as well to make sure it doesn’t backfire and leave me looking crap.

So today I followed the book’s advice, with 250g carbs, 40g protein and 40g fat. This really is’t much. Especially on the protein side. Oats and other grains have a surprisingly large amount of protein in them, which left me unable to eat much meat. So my food today consisted of oats, rice, tuna and coconut milk. This amounted to 1650 calories. It’ll be interesting to see how my body reacts to a calorie deficit but high carbs (low GI). Not a diet I’ve tried before. I’m hoping my muscles do look fuller in the morning. That’s the plan anyway. I’ll then decide whether to do another day of high carb. I’m not sure if I’ll need it.

I find the carbs to be particularly unsatiating. I’ve been hungry all day and am looking forward to meat+veg again. (I can’t believe I just said that). Fingers crossed I don’t turn into a fatty overnight!
