Day 61 – Gluten Free

The buffet lunch arrives and as expected I am disappointed, but not surprised.

I was presenting at a big event today, discussing strategy and sales methodology. All pretty dull stuff and it followed an even more dull lunch. The organisers put on a buffet lunch, which I was expecting and I was also expecting it to be awful. In preparation I had opted for a large breakfast, and this paid off when the lunch did arrive. It was the usual affair with a vast platter of triangular sandwiches and nothing more. It frustrates me how caterers opt for the lazy sandwich option. Buffet does NOT equal sandwich! I therefore ignored the buffet, until someone came out to advise me that a “gluten-free” option was about to arrive. So I walked back to the buffet, and out came a few sandwiches on gluten-free bread. Again, lazy catering, thinking that the gluten free option must be a sandwich.

I just shook my head at the state of this crappy cardboard looking food and walked away again. My advice to people out there thinking of just taking the easy option would be to remember that there’s rarely a good reason to eat junk food. Bread is junk food. Gluten Free bread is junk food. Junk food is for fun, so don’t ever eat junk food for nutrition. Just wait and have something else.
